What the headline leaves out
The headline value is $400 before any tax impact or account fees. If the $15 monthly fee applied for three months, that would reduce the pre-tax value to $355. Someone who meets a listed fee waiver can avoid that reduction.
How this offer differs
Compared with SoFi’s current offer, Chase requires less qualifying direct deposit for the top bonus but charges a monthly fee unless a waiver applies. SoFi requires substantially more direct deposit in a shorter window for its top tier.
- 01Account opening is subject to Chase approval.
- 02Not available to existing Chase checking customers or people whose Chase checking account closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance within three years.
- 03Only one Chase checking account opening-related bonus every two years from the last offer enrollment date, and one bonus per account.
- 04Offer availability and terms may change.
